Job DescriptionAs a Senior Advanced Field Service Engineer for UOP, you will inspect the mechanical integrity for process equipment that plays a critical safety, reliability, and compliance role in refineries, petrochemical plants, and fabrication shops in the United States and for licensed process units worldwide. Your primary purpose is to ensure that pressure-containing equipment and mechanical systems are fit for service, meet applicable codes/standards, and safely operate without failure. You will be based in the United States and report to the Senior Manager, UOP Inspection Services.
You will ensure that all work done conforms to company specifications and API standards and provide written inspection reports to companies and customers which detail the work that was performed and future recommendations.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Visit customer refineries, chemical plants or fabrication shops for the purpose of assessing the mechanical integrity of the process equipment and verifying conformance to Honeywell UOP, customer and code specifications.
- You will perform physical inspection requiring climbing up, crawling through and walking on pressure vessels, storage tanks and piping either at the process plant or in fabrication shops.
- During plant turnarounds inspectors assess equipment condition, issue repair recommendations, verify suitable completion of the repairs, and forecast future repairs or replacement of equipment.
- Shop inspections of equipment occur during all stages of fabrication to ensure compliance to UOP Standard Specifications, customer requirements, engineering specifications and all applicable industry codes.
- Each inspector writes their own report using UOP's computer generated forms on a supplied laptop computer. Effective presentation of results to the customer at meetings is frequently required.
This position requires extensive travel that includes locations throughout the United States and internationally. Assignments generally last from 1 to 6 weeks, with no return home during that time normally available. Work hours during an assignment are typically six days per week, 10 hours per day, but can be 12-hour days, seven days a week. Night shifts and holiday coverage are also a possibility. As this is an hourly role, any time worked over 40 hours is at 1.5 (time and one half), double time on Sundays and Holidays.
You be provided with a laptop, mobile phone, corporate travel and expense card, camera, and other tools as needed. All travel expenses will be covered by Honeywell, including a generous meal allowance while on assignment.
YOU MUST HAVE- Either a Mechanical Engineering degree or an API-510 Pressure Vessel Inspector certification is the minimum educational/qualification requirement.
- 5 years minimum experience with direct involvement in refinery or chemical plant inspection, maintenance turnarounds or shutdowns.
- 5 years of experience utilizing basic principles of corrosion, metallurgy and materials of construction, welding procedures, refractory selection and application procedures.
WE VALUE- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred but other related engineering degrees will be considered.
- A basic understanding of UOP Refining & Petrochemical processes and technologies and familiarity with with the following: TEMA, ASME, API, ASTM, AWS and AISI codes.

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Connecticut, and Hawaii is $92,000 - $116,000. For Washington and most major metropolitan areas in New York & California, the annual base salary range is $116,000 - $133,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
