WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Acoustic Consultant for our New York, NY office. The following locations will also be considered: Boston, MA.In this position, staff will be involved in projects with our Property & Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities include:
  • Development of initial, project-specific Acoustic design goals/concepts
  • Development of architectural, mechanical, and structural solutions to achieve project design goals
  • Calculations of HVAC system noise and Reverberation Time
  • Periodic review of project drawings & specifications throughout design for incorporation of acoustic design elements
  • Survey and evaluation of existing acoustic conditions
  • Three-Dimensional Acoustic Modeling
  • Construction administration / Site Observations
  • Report preparation to communicate design & construction recommendations to clients and end users
  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, resource planning, and project financials with some oversight on small/medium projects
  • Assist with Project Management on large or multi-discipline projects
  • Attend client meetings
  • Maintain existing internal/external client relationships through consistent, high level deliverables
  • Support project pursuits and proposal development
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Acoustics, Audio Technology, or similar degree with coursework in architectural acoustics.
  • 5+ years' experience as an acoustic consultant in the commercial design industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients and staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in developing relationships with staff and clients.
  • Client focus, with a commitment to quality and problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced (Masters or Doctorate) degree in Architectural Acoustics, Audio Technology, or similar degree.
  • Experience in writing proposals and/or managing acoustic design projects.
  • Strong experience in any/all of the following project types: High-rise commercial projects, including mixed use, residential, hospitality, and office complexes, Healthcare, education, Government Facilities, Cultural/Museum, Performing Arts/Recording/Broadcast.
  • Strong experience in using HVAC noise and/or Sound Transmission modeling software such as V-A Select, Potorff AIM, INSUL, and other proprietary modeling software.
  • Strong experience using 3D modeling software such as EASE, CATT-Acoustic, Odeon, SoundPlan, CadnaA, etc.
  • Experience in acoustic field testing, including background noise, sound transmission, reverberation time, and vibration.
  • Experience using drafting software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Experience with creating audio auralizations, including: Audio Engineering/Mixing/Mastering, Understanding of Binaural/ambisonic recording and playback.
  • Understanding of acoustic simulation methods such as raytracing, convolutional reverberation, early reflections, Video Game Audio Design, and Integrating audio plugins into VR scenes.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $107,500 - $142,400

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
