Purpose: This position exists to ensure the company has financial statements that are accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). This position is responsible for completion and analysis of financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Statement of Cash Flows) for assigned Timken legal entities and business units.
Essential Responsibilities:- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, providing fluctuation analysis and detailed explanations for significant financial statement variances.
- Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis accurately, timely, and in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Lead and support fixed asset accounting activities, including capitalization of assets, depreciation accounting, asset retirements, transfers, impairments, and Construction-in-Progress (CIP) monitoring and review.
- Review capital project and expenditure activity to ensure compliance with company capitalization policies and U.S. GAAP requirements. Evaluate planned and actual expenditures and recommend accounting treatment adjustments when necessary.
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned, with a focus on continuous improvement and adherence to evolving accounting standards and best practices.
Technical/Functional Skills: - Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting concepts, including property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with finance, operations, engineering, and project teams across domestic and international subsidiaries.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting concepts and provide guidance to non-finance stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 4+ years experience in Accounting or Financial Analysis, manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
- CPA or CMA licenses preferred
