Responsibilities

  • Onboard new talent and creators by analyzing contracts and setting up payment solutions
  • Execute monthly accounting close and prepare timely financial statements
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and perform balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analyze talent contracts and ensure accurate revenue recognition
  • Provide operational accounting support by reviewing invoices and managing vendor issues
  • Manage contracts alongside sales and production teams, ensuring proper revenue recognition
  • Support daily accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations
  • Liaise with partners on accounting, tax, and shared services matters
  • Identify and document opportunities for process improvements in accounting functions
  • Assist in audit readiness and provide ad hoc analysis and forecasting as needed

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting and finance team. This role will play a critical part in building scalable accounting processes and ensuring accurate financial reporting as the company continues to grow. The Senior Accountant will work cross-functionally with sales, production, operations, and leadership, and will have meaningful ownership over close processes, contract accounting, and reporting in a dynamic, creator-driven media business.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with onboarding of all new talent and creators, including analyzing contracts, setting up payment solutions, and establishing a reporting cadence.
  • Execute the monthly accounting close process and prepare timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Perform period-end closing activities, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze and review talent contracts, prepare participation and revenue share statements, and ensure timely and accurate recognition of production revenue.
  • Provide day-to-day operational accounting support, including reviewing invoices, resolving vendor issues, and overseeing the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and bills.
  • Work closely with sales and production teams to manage contracts and ensure proper accounting for various revenue streams (e.g., licensing, sponsorships, media sales), and prepare and deliver timely sales commission statements.
  • Support daily accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners on AP, Technical Accounting, Tax, and Shared Services matters.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and help document accounting policies, procedures, and controls as the business scales.
  • Support audit readiness and assist with ad hoc analysis, forecasting support, and systems implementations as needed.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA is a plus but not required
  • Progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close activities.
  • Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
  • Experience with AP and AR systems such as Bill.com and/or Coupa.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606 exposure a plus).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience in media, entertainment, or public accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with Workday is a plus.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $92,000.00-120,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
