Position/Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting and financial reporting functions to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization's financial records. This role plays a key part in month-end and year-end close processes, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and compliance with company policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and applicable regulatory requirements.

The Senior Accountant works collaboratively with internal departments, clients, and finance leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and continuous process improvement initiatives. This position exercises independent judgment, maintains strong internal controls, and provides technical guidance and cross-functional support to promote accurate financial operations across the organization.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries related to revenue recognition, payroll, accruals, and intercompany transactions
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet and bank reconciliations
  • Analyze income and expense accounts for accuracy, trends, and reasonableness
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedule
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and subsidiary ledgers
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll team to ensure accurate data flow and coding consistency
  • Assist with external audits, tax reporting support, and compliance documentation
  • Prepare and analyze variance reports and financial analytics using Excel or financial software
  • Maintain organized electronic and/or physical accounting records in accordance with retention policies
  • Identify and recommend improvements to accounting procedures, automation, and internal controls
  • Provide cross-training or technical guidance to accounting staff as needed
  • Respond professionally to internal and external financial inquiries
  • Participate in ERP upgrades, testing, or financial system implementations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Contribute to a strong client relationship through positive interactions with client personnel
  • This exempt position is expected to maintain a full-time work schedule and may require additional evening or weekend hours during peak reporting periods or critical deadlines, consistent with business needs


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Professional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact appropriately with vendors, employees, and leadership
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and general accounting practices
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling, and data analysis
  • Ability to analyze financial trends, variances, and account anomalies and provide recommendations to management
  • Experience evaluating and improving accounting workflows, automation tools, and internal controls
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software systems and financial reporting tools
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • High level of discretion when handling confidential financial and payroll information
  • Collaborative team orientation and ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
