Full Job Description
As a senior accountant supporting the Global Consolidations accounting function, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team that supports our growing and complex global business. This individual contributor will support accounting close and financial reporting activities, develop reporting and analyses to maintain accuracy of the financial statements, implement and document new and current accounting processes, provide accounting guidance to support business & investment initiatives, prepare deliverables to support SEC filings, and provide coaching to team members to achieve business results. You will collaborate with teams across Starbucks to help grow our existing business, support new initiatives, and drive other technical accounting projects, as well as prepare and review quarterly financial reporting deliverables for respective areas. As a senior accountant, you will: • Support month and quarter end close - You will be responsible for month-end and quarter-end close activities, perform financial analysis, investigate intercompany variances, and ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and compliant with company policies and applicable accounting standards. You will partner across the organization to identify and resolve accounting issues and reconcile items across legal entities and business units. • Coordinate statutory reporting and audit activities - You will lead the preparation and review of statutory financial statements, audit requests, and other regulatory reporting requirements for international legal entities. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to prepare supporting schedules, respond to auditor requests, and meet filing deadlines. • Support complex accounting matters and business transactions - You will contribute to the accounting and reporting for a variety of strategic and operational activities, including corporate divestitures and acquisitions, legal entity ownership changes, stock-based compensation allocations, dividend transactions, and other significant accounting matters. You will collaborate with business partners and other accounting partners to assess impacts, document conclusions, and support accurate financial reporting. • Maintain and develop various accounting systems and processes - You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the various systems in your area and will have the opportunity to recommend and implement improvements to existing systems and processes. • Partner across a global organization - You will collaborate with Financial Reporting, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, international accounting teams, and external service providers to support a variety of accounting, reporting, and business initiatives. • Train and coach others - You will assist managers with facilitating cross-training amongst the team and tracking of day-to-day tasks and setting team priorities. You may lead or support special projects assigned. • Enjoy working on an energetic, fun team and have a clear ability to drive the business forward as part of a highly collaborative team, while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. We'd love to hear from people with: • Experience in accounting at a professional level, including journal entries, account reconciliation, reporting and analysis or equivalent experience. (3+ years) • Bachelor's degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred. • Experience using an ERP system and business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Hyperion, Anaplan, and Oracle) preferred. • Experience using an SEC reporting system (such as Workiva) preferred. • Experience supporting intercompany accounting processes preferred. • CPA preferred. • Public accounting experience preferred. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
