Introduction to the Team

The Traveler Business Team builds and drives growth for our global consumer businesses-Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. This division creates compelling and differentiated traveler value for each brand by setting the strategic vision, operating strategy, and plan. Responsibilities include investment allocation and prioritization, P&L accountability, and leading cross-functional teams across Expedia Group, who are all held accountable to a single scorecard.

As part of Vrbo's revenue accounting team, you'll help support the growth of our global online vacation rental business. Reporting to the Director, Accounting, you'll lead key revenue accounting processes and collaborate with Sales, FP&A, Product Management, Legal, Tax, Technology, and external auditors.
Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
  • Lead monthly and quarterly revenue accounting close activities, including invoicing, contract analysis, close procedures, and account reconciliations.
  • Apply revenue recognition guidance and document appropriate accounting treatment for products and services.
  • Prepare and analyze reconciliations for revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, bad debt expense, and related reserves.
  • Implement scalable processes, automation, and reconciliation tools for the eCommerce Merchant business.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, applicable accounting standards, and SOX requirements.
  • Reconcile GAAP reporting to internal operating metrics and investigate variances.
  • Improve systems and reporting tools to support accurate revenue recording and classification.
  • Participate in testing and reviewing accounting entries for new eCommerce product releases.
  • Support new product and system implementations by evaluating revenue accounting requirements.
  • Respond to interim, quarterly, and year-end audit requests and collaborate with external auditors.
  • Partner cross-functionally to research, resolve, and proactively address revenue-related issues.
Experience and Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • Four to seven years of corporate and/or public accounting experience.
  • Experience applying revenue recognition guidance.
  • Experience preparing revenue and deferred revenue reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Experience working with high-volume transactional revenue systems and performing data analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to interpret and research accounting guidance.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to deliver accurate, high-quality work on time.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.

Preferred
  • Familiarity with SQL, Power Query, Tableau, or similar data and reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting SOX processes and controls.
  • Experience with eCommerce, marketplace, subscription, or other technology-enabled business models.
  • Experience participating in accounting system or product implementations.


The total cash range for this position in Springfield is $66,000.00 to $92,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $105,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
