Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting functions and ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. In this role, you will manage month-end close processes, prepare financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and mentor junior accounting staff. The ideal candidate has a strong technical accounting background, sound judgment, and the ability to work cross-functionally to support broader financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Planning

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other reports to provide insightful analysis of the company's financial performance
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Play a lead role in the annual budgeting process and provide continuous forecasting to support financial planning
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive profitability


Compliance, Tax, and Audit

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, GAAP, and tax laws
  • Coordinate with external auditors during audits, and lead the preparation of necessary documentation and schedules
  • Collaborate with tax specialists to develop effective tax planning strategies, ensuring the company's tax compliance and optimizing tax positions
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes


Cash, Payments, and Transactional Accounting

  • Monitor cash flow, manage cash reserves, and optimize working capital to support business operations effectively
  • Recommend appropriate actions to address cash fluctuations and liquidity challenges
  • Manage the monthly revenue accounting process in accordance with ASC 606
  • Assist with the accounts payable and accounts receivable activities for the company


Process Improvement

  • Continuously access and improve financial processes, controls, and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency
  • Implement best practices to streamline workflows and drive operational excellence
  • Assist with special projects, such as system implementations or process improvements


What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, preferably within the utilities or payments industries
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles
  • Proven experience with financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, and revenue transactional accounting
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and experience with external audits
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite, Quickbooks, etc.) Experience with Rippling billing is a plus
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment

In compliance with Colorado state law, pay for this position is anticipated to be between $90,000 and $110,000. Actual offers will be based on the applicant's skills, experience, and education.
