Full Job Description

The senior accountant owns assigned areas of CHG's close process including monthly detailed preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis and reviewing the work of junior staff with the expectation of ensuring general ledger account balances are properly stated. Beyond the close, the senior accountant will prepare and review of financial statements, debt compliance certificates, participate in leading the annual financial statement audit and conduct accounting technical research for transactions that fall outside the routine.

Responsibilities

Month-End Close and General Ledger Ownership
  • Own assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close duties - including preparation and posting of journal entries for accruals, adjustments and revenue/expense recognition - and deliver them accurately within the published close calendar.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations, resolving reconciling items timely and escalating aged or unusual items with a proposed resolution rather than a question.
  • Perform multi-entity and intercompany accounting, including intercompany eliminations, allocations across cost centers and segments, and consolidation support.
  • Prepare month-over-month and budget-to-actual flux analysis for owned accounts, identifying root cause rather than restating the variance, and draft commentary suitable for inclusion in leadership reporting.
  • Review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by junior level staff team members and/or offshore contractors

Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Research, conclude, and document technical accounting positions under U.S. GAAP in accounting position memos suitable for auditor review.
  • Apply and maintain accounting knowledge for areas such as revenue (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), goodwill and intangibles (ASC 350), internal-use software (ASC 350-40), compensation costs (ASC 718 and ASC 710 ), contingencies (ASC 450), debt (ASC 470), and business combinations (ASC 805), , depending on assigned scope.
  • Support preparation of the consolidated annual financial statement audit and footnote disclosures, including tie-out of statement and footnote figures to underlying support.
  • Contribute schedules, analysis, and supporting detail to the quarterly MD&A and other reporting deliverables including debt compliance reporting packages.
  • Monitor new and pending accounting standards, assess applicability to CHG, and prepare adoption impact assessments and transition documentation.

Transactions, Systems, and Process Improvement
  • Use Workday ERP and related reporting tools effectively; partner with applicable business partner teams on configuration changes and testing.
  • Identify and implement AI automation and process improvements that reduce manual effort, shorten the close, and improve control.
  • Partner with Treasury, Financial Operations, FP&A, Tax, Payroll, and business-unit finance teams to resolve issues at the source rather than correcting them in the ledger.
  • Complete ad hoc analysis and special projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in identifying and implementing process improvements, including using automation and AI-enabled solutions to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflows.
  • Advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience building detailed reconciliations and workpapers
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of GAAP, with the ability to interpret authoritative guidance, apply to operational processes, and document policies and transactions
  • Proven ownership of complex reconciliations and general ledger analysis, explaining variances clearly to support decision-making
  • Consistently meets close deadlines by managing dependencies, self-reviewing work, and proactively certifying deliverables
  • Hands-on proficiency with ERP systems (Workday or similar), tracing data from source to ledger and spotting process improvements
  • Experience preparing audit-ready documentation and anticipating auditor questions
  • Strong relationship-builder across finance, technology, and project teams to drive process improvement
  • Comfortable leading meetings, developing training/documentation, and serving as a go-to resource for the team
