  • Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls and support audit requests.

Full Job Description
Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role on our Accounting team, owning stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718 while also managing the Company's local and state tax compliance calendar. This is a hands-on individual contributor role that combines technical equity accounting, multi-jurisdiction tax filings, and month-end close responsibilities. The ideal candidate brings strong public-company or public-accounting experience, is comfortable working against SEC filing deadlines, and is looking to deepen their expertise in equity compensation accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Stock-Based Compensation & Equity Accounting

  • Own end-to-end stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718, including expense recognition, forfeiture estimates, modification accounting, and equity roll-forwards for RSUs and options.
  • Administer equity data in the stock plan platform and reconcile it to the general ledger and payroll records.


Local & State Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and file local and state tax filings, including city business license taxes, sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts filings, and annual reports across jurisdictions in which the Company operates.
  • Monitor filing calendars and remittance deadlines to keep all local tax obligations current and penalty-free.


Financial Close, Reporting & SEC Support

  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
  • Support equity-related and tax disclosures for SEC filings (10-Q/10-K), including share-based compensation footnotes and EPS calculations.


Internal Controls, Technical Research & Process Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with SOX internal controls over assigned areas; maintain documentation and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Research technical accounting and tax matters and prepare position memos as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across the close and compliance calendar.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or public-company industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with stock compensation accounting (ASC 718) - required.
  • Experience preparing local/state tax filings (e.g., sales and use tax, business license, property tax).
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls (SOX).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with a major ERP (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; ability to meet tight close and filing deadlines.


Preferred

  • CPA license (active or in progress).
  • Experience with equity administration platforms and payroll integration for equity transactions.
  • eCommerce, retail, or distribution industry experience.
  • Experience with Avalara, Microsoft D365, and Fidelity PSW a plus.


A reasonable salary estimate for this role based on experience, education, and geographic region is: $100,000-$125,000
