Full Job Description
Are you up for the opportunity of a lifetime? If so, we are seeking a Senior Accountant at our corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago is a key role in our Controller's organization that helps our Company continue to drive improvement through organic and acquisitive growth. This position will play a key role in analyzing financial results and helping our Company maintain a financial statement cadence and regiment. Key Responsibilities: • Day-to-Day Accounting Activities: This role is an integral part of the monthly close for America's month-end close reporting, review, and reconciliation process. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and first level review of financial statement areas including: - Fixed assets and CIP - Cash/Banking reconciliations - Corporate Accounting including: debt, equity, intangibles and intercompany - Month-end accruals and expense analysis - ASC 606 Revenue Recognition analysis - Other variance and ad-hoc analysis, as necessary - Assist in the Company's annual physical inventory • Teamwork: Ability to be flexible, multi-task, work well and effectively communicate with Berlin's Finance Team as well as business unit Operations teams throughout the America. • Process Redesign & Improvement: Assist with the evaluation of current processes and procedures with a lens toward streamlining cumbersome or manually intensive work. • Internal Controls & Regulatory Compliance: Assist in the formulation of internal controls, control documentation and policies to help the Company maintain a strong control environment. Research current and new accounting guidance and be able to draft associations between guidance and company compliance and processes. • Annual Audit: Participate in relevant areas of the annual audit. • Fulfill employee portion of the Berlin Values. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; CPA preferred. • Approximately 4 years of increasingly relevant accounting experience • Strong knowledge of accounting, financial processes, internal controls (Sarbanes-Oxley a plus but not required). • Good communicator; ability and desire to interface cross-functionally, and with outside service providers. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to interact with business unit and global management teams in a fast paced and dynamic environment. • Working knowledge of accounting and financial software systems (PeopleSoft and OneStream preferred, but not required) • Strong Excel, Power BI and other data management capabilities required. • Detail and project oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities. Working Environment: Hybrid work schedule at our Corporate Headquarters office (Merchandise Mart) in Chicago, IL. We recently moved to a new space in the Merchandise Mart.
