Senior Accountant

Location: Biddeford, ME

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our growing manufacturing organization in Biddeford, Maine. This position plays a critical role in supporting financial operations, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, experience within a manufacturing environment, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with operations and leadership teams while contributing to process improvements, financial analysis, and the continued success of a well-established manufacturing business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports to support business decision-making.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Partner with operations and plant leadership to monitor inventory, manufacturing costs, and operational performance.
  • Assist with inventory accounting, cost analysis, and variance reporting within a manufacturing environment.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and assist with annual audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and manufacturing operations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.
  • Experience working with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and present financial information to various stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA designation or CPA candidacy preferred.
  • Experience with standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting process improvement initiatives and system implementations.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement or lean manufacturing environments.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
