Job Summary:

The Solutions Technical Sales Account Manager is responsible for maximizing the long-term value of assigned customer and dealer relationships within Caterpillar's Electric Power Solutions business. Serving as the primary strategic point of contact, this role develops a deep understanding of customer objectives, business drivers, and technical requirements to deliver solutions that create demonstrable value for both the customer and Caterpillar.

Working closely with dealers, customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders, the Account Manager leads early engagement activities, helps define project requirements, develops solution concepts, and coordinates the resources necessary to support successful project execution.

Through strong technical expertise, business acumen, and proactive relationship management, the Account Manager identifies growth opportunities, strengthens customer confidence, and positions Caterpillar as a trusted long-term partner.

Success in this role is measured by customer satisfaction, relationship strength, opportunity development and volume / share growth within the assigned customer portfolio.

What you will do:

  • Build Trust: Own and grow strategic customer and dealer relationships by understanding business objectives, demonstrating competence and acting as a trusted advisor

  • Develop Opportunities: Lead opportunity development and solution definition by gathering requirements, defining project scope, aligning customer needs with Caterpillar’s internal execution capabilities.

  • Create Project Proposals: Coordinate internal resources to develop commercially sound proposals and execution strategies that drive sustainable growth and customer confidence.

  • Sales Process Execution: Champion customer success by communicating value, resolving issues, and advancing opportunities through the sales execution process.

  • Seize Opportunities: Monitor portfolio performance and market dynamics to identify risks, competitive threats, and growth opportunities

    • Communicates to clients regarding expectations of all parties.
    • Maintains productive, long-term relationships with clients or vendors.
    • Creates opportunities to educate support teams on client priorities.
    Account Management: Knowledge of account management; ability to manage day-to-day activities, providing services and support to existing clients.
    Level Extensive Experience:
    • Evaluates demographics, trends and issues affecting specific markets and customers; makes recommendations accordingly.
    • Anticipates the needs and preferences of key players at relevant customer accounts.
    • Collaborates with the customer on large account activities and monitors customer satisfaction.
    Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service value and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
    Level Extensive Experience:
    • Acquires and retains customers in multiple settings using value selling techniques.
    • Qualifies sales prospects based on a clear understanding of customer business needs and the service company's determined ability to meet those needs.
    • Delivers value-added services to customers beyond delivery of a purchased product, technology or service consistently.

Additional Information:

  • This position is located in Griffin, GA; Lafayette, IN; and Irving, TX.

  • Travel up to 25% is required.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is offered for this position.

  • This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
