In this position you will serve as a Security Specialist with the responsibility to protect the organization from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information considered vital to mission interests, national defense and national security by serving as a security specialist, providing security program functions in support of the organization. Participates in the administration and implementation of the Industrial, Information, Personnel, Physical and Operations security programs as a member of the organization's security management team. Plans, organizes, and directs a dimensional, multi-functional Unit Security Program in support of national security. Serves as the Unit's authority and expert on all matters involving the integrity of all types of classified information. Acts as focal point in the management of facilities and the protection, use, and dissemination of all classified information. Develops a comprehensive security program which identifies actual or potential problem areas, projects program deficiencies, and develops solutions as needed. Ensures classified information is disseminated only to persons authorized access to the material and having an established need-to-know and destroyed in authorized destruction facilities in accordance with established directives. Duties also include administration of and responsibility for an extremely complex security program which includes, but is not limited to information, personnel, industrial, physical, communications and various other security rules.

Exercises independent judgment for implementation, oversight, and centralized control of the Information Security program for the Unit. Maintains classified material systems and is involved in the design, analysis, or monitoring of security systems or classified information which are in direct support of national security. Advises the Commander and Staff of the impact and recommends courses of action to assure that national and Air Force security policies are integrated into management of the AFMC programs. Implements the Information Security Program by following local security policies and guidelines for highly classified programs as a member of the organization's security management team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

1. Extensive knowledge of information, personnel, physical, industrial, communications and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security in these areas.

2. Comprehensive knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs.

3. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the organization

4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.

5. Ability to establish effective, professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1. The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty.

2. This position is a designated National Security Position.

3. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

4. Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.
