Summary

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 7th Signal (Theater) G2 Section.

Duties

Help

• Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures to safeguard national security information, ensuring compliance with directives from the DOD, NSA, and other governing bodies.
• Maintains liaison with higher headquarters, intelligence branches, and other federal organizations to clarify policy, coordinate security support, and ensure threat assessments are properly analyzed and disseminated.
• Oversees all aspects of Traditional Security (TRADSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Access Control Systems (ACS), and Protection Distribution Systems (PDS) to ensure a secure operating environment.
• Manages the lifecycle of classified information, including its reproduction, storage, dissemination, and destruction, and oversees access to cryptographic materials and controlled devices.
• Develops resources for and conducts Communication Security (COMSEC) Staff Assistance Visits, command inspections, and training to ensure the execution of secure communications, identify vulnerabilities, and implement corrective actions.
• Represents the command as a technical expert on security committees, provides guidance on resolving conflicting security requirements, and advises leadership on all COMSEC related issues.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• May be required to take a counterintelligence scope polygraph examination, if required for Special Access Program.
• Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required 40% or less of the time.
• This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.
• This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify, applicants must have one year or more of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade/level. Specialized experience is defined as experience which includes:

1. Managing communication security programs by developing plans, policies, procedures, and methods for implementation and administration to protect COMSEC material and information in accordance with DoD, NSA, Army, and other applicable guidance.

2. Conducting communication security inspections, staff assistance visits, and related oversight activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reduce vulnerability of secure communications.

3. Implementing traditional security, physical security, access control systems, and protection distribution systems by reviewing installations, validating requirements, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and policy guidelines.

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
