Full Job Description
Location: East Chicago, IN

Cleveland-Cliffs Indiana Harbor, an integrated steelmaking facility producing hot rolled, cold rolled, and coated products, is seeking a qualified candidate to manage the Quality Management Systems at Indiana Harbor. This individual will be responsible for maintaining compliance to standards and driving improvement to the system, laboratories, and quality order management.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance and provide leadership for safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Develop and administer Quality directives, programs, processes, procedures, and controls to ensure that quality systems conform to company, customer, industry, and governmental standards.
  • Ensure timely and proactive corrective/preventive action implementation and verification.
  • Provide metallurgical and technical support for product and process improvement through data analysis, problem solving, expertise in area of responsibility, metallurgical and mechanical concepts, and knowledge of customer operations and markets.
  • Provide technical solutions to internal and external customers by understanding manufacturing and product capability.
  • Drive reduction and velocity in the management of material flow through disposition of distressed material in accordance with customer and internal standards and business imperatives.
  • Recommend new technology to satisfy changing customer and marketplace demands.
  • Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources to drive results.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Material Science or related field
  • 6 years or more of experience dealing with manufacturing processes.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively within a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven communication (verbal and written), analytical, organizational, and time management skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous managerial experience in an industrial, or related environment.
  • 10 years or more of experience dealing with manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in materials manufacturing, preferably metals.
  • 5 years of product inspection and knowledge of external customer requirements.
  • Ability to drive results across multiple departments.
