About the Role

We are seeking a Casthouse Scrap Supervisor to lead scrap management activities at our Massena facility. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a candidate who enjoys leading people, optimizing processes, improving inventory accuracy, and collaborating across operations to support production performance. You will oversee the end-to-end management of scrap, dross, and off-grade materials while ensuring safe operations, accurate tracking, inventory optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with Production Control, Ingot Operations, suppliers, and production teams, you will play a key role in maximizing material utilization and supporting operational excellence.


  • Lead and develop hourly employees across scrap, dross, billet, rod, and sow operations while fostering a safe, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
  • Drive safety performance through incident investigations, Human Performance Toolbox activities, SSOP compliance, housekeeping standards, and proactive risk management.
  • Manage scrap inventory, material flow, consumption, receipts, and storage practices to ensure accuracy, traceability, and efficient furnace utilization.
  • Coordinate alloy scheduling, scrap pre-staging, and material planning activities in partnership with Production Control and Ingot Operations.
  • Oversee shipping-related processes, scrap tub quality, supplier relationships, and commercial metal procurement triggers to support operational requirements.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that increase scrap utilization, reduce operating costs, and improve overall process efficiency.

Working Environment

  • Onsite leadership role within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Regular interaction with hourly and salaried employees across multiple shifts.
  • Frequent presence in production areas with exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
  • Standard business schedule with flexibility required to support operational priorities and emergency situations.
  • Visible safety leader who champions Alcoa's safety-first culture and expectations.

What You Bring to the Role

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, inventory control, or process improvement environments, with the ability to optimize material management processes.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or coordinating teams, demonstrating the ability to drive results, accountability, and employee engagement.
  • Knowledge of Casthouse operations, casting processes, materials management, or similar production environments is preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across operational teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, operational discipline, and continuous improvement within an industrial environment.

Base Salary: 76,700 - 115,400 USD annually

Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies in conjunction with multiple components of the Employee Total Rewards Package.
