SummaryReporting to the Manager of R&D, the Scientist will focus on conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses using triple quadrupole and high-resolution mass spectrometry systems. The candidate must be capable of working independently on sample preparation, mass spectrometry injections, and troubleshooting, while also collaborating closely with proteomics and bioinformatics scientists.
The Scientist will be responsible for selecting appropriate experimental methods, executing analyses, and delivering clear interpretations in timely project reports. In addition, the role includes advising the scientific team on biomarker discovery strategies, platform and study design, and data analysis approaches.
This role also involves proposing and implementing new sample analysis procedures, as well as continuously improving existing methods.
Responsibilities - Perform sample preparation for a variety of biological matrices
- Conduct mass spectrometry analysis and interpret results to ensure validity of data
- Operate electrospray-based LC/MS systems
- Develop and validate discovery and quantitative methods, including PK assays for biomarkers and drug products such as biologics and biosimilars
- Perform in-depth data analysis and interpretation for each experiment
- Provide clear presentations and summaries of analytical results and biological interpretation
- Design and execute experimental testing
- Design and execute troubleshooting experiments
- Propose and implement novel approaches to sample processing and mass spectrometry analysis
- Train Research Associates on sample preparation and analytical techniques
- Provide scientific recommendations to improve data quality and platform performance
- Monitor data quality and take ownership of project execution in the laboratory
- Must be capable of working in a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) environment
Education - M.Sc. or PhD in life sciences, chemistry, or biochemistry (or equivalent)
Main Requirements- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Solid understanding of mass spectrometry
- Experience with automation systems and affinity purification protocols is an asset
- Experience working in industry is an asset
- Ability to prioritize and organize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to prepare project reports and deliver internal and client presentations
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a fast-paced research team
- Capability to supervise specific projects is an asset
- May require working in a BSL-2 environment
Working Conditions- Full-time, Monday to Friday, standard daytime hours, 100% onsite
