Discover your role:

  • Perform surgical models of cardiac and vascular disease in mice and rats, including transverse aortic constriction (TAC), myocardial infarction (MI), and renal/kidney models (RKM)

  • Administer test articles via multiple routes (IV, SC, IM) or osmotic minipump implantation with precision and consistency across longitudinal study timelines

  • Implant and manage telemetry devices for continuous blood pressure and ECG monitoring in conscious, freely moving rodents

  • Conduct invasive hemodynamic assessments using PV-loop methodology to quantify cardiac function

  • Perform ex-vivo tissue collection and processing, including cardiac dissociation via Langendorff perfusion

  • Manage end-to-end in-vivo study logistics, including animal health monitoring, surgical scheduling, and post-operative care

  • Analyze and interpret physiological, hemodynamic, and functional data using PRISM, PONEMAH, and other relevant analysis software

  • Generate high-quality figures, reports, and data summaries for internal presentations, regulatory packages, and peer-reviewed publications

  • Maintain rigorous records of surgical procedures, animal welfare documentation, and study protocols in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards

  • Collaborate closely with study directors, therapeutic area scientists, and cross-functional teams to align surgical and analytical approaches with program goals

  • Proactively flag capacity constraints, scheduling conflicts, or technical challenges to stakeholders

This role requires:

  • BS with 10+ years, MS with 6+ years with relevant experience in a related field (e.g., Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, Veterinary Science, or similar)

  • Demonstrated hands-on expertise in rodent cardiac and vascular surgical models (TAC, MI, RKM)

  • Proficiency in rodent dosing techniques (IV, SC, IM) and telemetry implantation for blood pressure and ECG monitoring

  • Experience with invasive hemodynamic measurement techniques, including PV-loop analysis

  • Hands-on experience with Langendorff perfusion and cardiac tissue dissociation

  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as PRISM and PONEMAH

  • Strong understanding of rodent anatomy, physiology, and survival surgery best practices

  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple longitudinal studies and competing priorities simultaneously

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to scientific rigor and animal welfare standards

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Preferred: experience with additional cardiovascular functional assessment techniques or prior work in a GLP/regulated research environment

Salary Range (annually)

$93,900.00 - $153,300.00
