Position Summary

The primary role of the Natural Gas Scheduler is to manage all facets of gathering, processing and/or treating plants and interstate pipeline scheduling on multiple MPLX gathering & processing systems and to ensure accurate and complete accounting of production and gas deliveries. The role is responsible for forecasting, scheduling and balancing MPLX gathering & processing systems with producers, shippers, and interstate pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Nominates, confirms and schedules pipeline movements through use of propriety and third-party scheduling systems.


  • Work to minimize producer/shipper imbalances on gathering & processing systems and OBA imbalances on interstate pipelines on a daily basis.


  • Coordinates closely with plant operations, producers and pipelines to ensure accurate inlet and residue flows and ensure system balance.


  • Provides and communicates allocations.


  • Retrieve, compile, input, and monitor commodity movements daily into complex excel spreadsheets and the Quorum Gas Scheduling system.


  • Ensure accurate reporting of allocation and imbalance information to internal and external customers.


  • Develops subject matter expertise on all logistics-based scheduling systems and plans.


  • Work closely with field and plant operators.


  • Work closely with producers, shippers, and interstate pipeline representatives.


  • Work closely with business development and traders in executing, implementing, and monitoring contracts to ensure compliance and penalty avoidance.


  • Be adaptable, decisive, detail oriented, have strong problem solving/analytical skills and strive for process improvement.


  • Initiates and coordinates movements independently through Marathon's distribution channels based on a given plan.


  • Identifies and communicates constraints and begins to identify optimization opportunities throughout the whole system.


  • Gains knowledge of the costs of transportation associated with the movements of the system. Learns the regional supply picture.


  • Additional reporting duties as needed.


Education and Experience

Scheduler:

  • Bachelor's degree required or five (5) years of scheduling experience in lieu.
  • Two (2) or more years of industry-related experience
    required


Scheduler Senior:

  • Bachelor's degree required or five (5) years of scheduling experience in lieu.
  • Four (4) or more years of industry-related experience
    required


Preferred:

  • Self starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for meeting deadlines and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.


  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess data, identify trends, solve problems, and support sound decision-making.


  • Critically think and problem-solve when managing complex processes and resolving operational issues.


  • Quickly adapt to evolving conditions and goals to support the department's processes and goals.


  • Able to anticipate challenges, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement with minimal supervision.
