Satellite Systems Engineer (CONOPS)

We are currently seeking a qualified Satellite Systems Engineer (CONOPS) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for define operations from launch through end-of-life, designing the mission workflow, procedures, and system interactions. The candidate translates high-level mission goals into actionable ground station procedures, telemetry monitoring, and contingency plans for flight, bridging the gap between satellite design and operational execution.

Responsibilities
  • CONOPS Development: Defining mission phases (Launch, Early Orbit Phase [LEOP], Commissioning, Nominal Operations).
  • Operational Requirements: Creating, maintaining, and reviewing system-level specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and operational procedures.
  • Mission Analysis: Performing analysis on payload functionality, coverage, and power/thermal constraints.
  • System Testing Support: Defining and executing procedures during Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT) to ensure operational readiness.
  • Launch & Operations Support: Supporting LEOP, satellite commissioning, and ongoing monitoring of satellite health.
  • Tool Development: Utilizing MBSE approaches and simulation software to validate performance.
  • Tools & Process Enhancement: Develop and maintain Visio diagrams (process flows, system architectures, task sequences). Recommend improvements to project management tools and workflows to increase transparency and efficiency. Support adoption of Agile tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps) where applicable.
  • Initiative & Autonomy: Identify gaps or risks before they become issues and propose mitigation actions. Take ownership of assigned work streams, seeking guidance when needed but driving tasks to completion independently.
  • Learning & Development: Actively engage with senior engineers, managers, and technical experts to broaden knowledge of satellite operations, payload integration, and systems engineering. Attend internal training sessions on project management, best practices, Agile methodologies, and relevant domain knowledge.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related Engineering degree
  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant field with any of the following: satellite mission operations, flight systems engineering or relevant design experience.
  • Experience with design and integration/testing of GEO or LEO satellite systems.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft subsystems (Platform, Payload, Ground Segment), orbital mechanics, and RF systems.
  • Experience with simulation tools and software (e.g., SCOS-2000, Python for automation).
  • High level of initiative, proactive problem solving, and autonomy.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and French working environment.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
