Job Description

Reporting to the Principal Director, SAP Innovation and IP, the SAP Enterprise Architect defines and safeguards the end-to-end coherence of the SAP landscape and its connections to the broader enterprise technology ecosystem. The role establishes the target state and multi-year roadmap, then governs decisions across programs to protect maintainability, security, and long-term value.

You advise CIOs, executive steering committees, delivery teams, and solution architects. Your contribution is to arbitrate trade-offs among speed, cost, and sustainability, establish integration, data, security, and extensibility standards, and strengthen the practice's architecture capability.

Your mission consists of:
  • Leadership, vision and initiative
    • Define the target architecture and multi-year roadmap for SAP environments, including sequencing, dependencies, and release waves.
    • Chair architecture governance and arbitrate decisions where a local need conflicts with the coherence of the broader estate.
  • Consultative intelligence
    • Advise executives on platform strategy, technical debt, and the architectural implications of acquisitions, divestitures, and carve-outs.
    • Present and defend architectures and roadmaps to CIO-level stakeholders.
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking
    • Set integration, data, security, and extensibility standards, including clean-core principles and exception governance.
    • Review and approve solution architectures, integration designs, and extension proposals produced by delivery teams.
  • Customer orientation and partnership
    • Lead architecture solutioning for pursuits and transformation programs, including the choice among greenfield, brownfield, and selective data transition approaches.
  • Knowledge sharing
    • Create reference architectures and reusable patterns, assess emerging SAP capabilities, and mentor solution architects toward enterprise architecture capability.
