Compensation: $150K-$165K DOE
Location: Kent, WA

Our client is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to serve in a player-coach capacity within their commercial HVAC and building automation division. This is a critical leadership role responsible for both personally driving new business and managing, coaching, and developing a team of Account Managers. The Sales Manager will play a central role in growing branch revenue, profitability, and market share.

Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

  • Lead the branch's HVAC and building automation sales efforts.
  • Develop the branch's annual sales plan and market strategy.
  • Establish revenue, profit, and activity goals for the sales team.
  • Hold Account Managers accountable for calls, appointments, proposals, presentations, and closed business.
  • Conduct individual performance reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Identify training needs and continuously improve the team's selling skills.
  • Create individual and team prospecting plans.
  • Partner closely with the Branch Manager on overall sales strategy.

Business Development

  • Personally generate new business for the branch.
  • Identify new markets, customers, and sales opportunities.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key clients and strategic accounts.
  • Assist Account Managers with major opportunities and complex sales situations.
  • Participate in presentations, proposal meetings, and contract negotiations.

Proposals & Pricing

  • Review and assist with proposals, presentations, and RFP responses.
  • Ensure pricing is competitive and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Protect profit margins while maintaining market competitiveness.
  • Help Account Managers develop effective, customer-focused solutions.
  • Monitor sales expenses and departmental budgets.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

  • Seven or more years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably in commercial HVAC or building automation.
  • Previous sales management experience, including overseeing Account Managers or service-sales representatives.
  • Proven ability to personally develop and close new business.
  • Experience coaching sales teams against measurable activity metrics and revenue goals.
  • Comfort reviewing and managing HVAC proposals, pricing, contracts, and profit margins.
  • Established relationships with commercial facility owners, property managers, contractors, or institutional customers.
  • Strong understanding of recurring maintenance agreements and service-based selling models.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
