Position Description

Position Summary

New River Electrical is looking for a qualified Safety Supervisor with knowledge in the electrical utility construction industry. As the Safety Supervisor, you will support the safety specialists and their projects as the recognized leader.The Safety Supervisor will provide leadership, decision making, guidance and support to the safety specialists under their care. You will ensure the safety team meets organizational standards and identifying improvement opportunities . You will ensure your team thoroughly performs observations, drives injury free culture, and remains professional . Recognized as a field safety leader and expert, you will provide front line support to questions and issues that rise above the Safety Specialist. This position reports to the Manager of Safety Operations.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervision of employees including performance plan development, performance reviews, resource management, expense and time accounting, coaching and leadership development.
  • Provide insights, expertise, training, and assistance to the Safety Specialist team.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules assisting the Safety Specialist with questions and issues.
  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures completion of all client required training/orientation for both safety and environmental.
  • Conduct and provide oversight for accident/incident investigations and complete reports to be uploaded into the clients' internal portal.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Review accident and incident reports to identify root cause(s) and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Professional certification (CSP, CHST, CUSP, etc.), preferred.
  • 7+ years of utility construction safety experience, preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated competency in leading, developing and motivating others.
  • Must be able to perform employee evaluations, solve employee discrepancies and provide coaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems both technical and employee driven.
  • Expert knowledge of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Knowledge in electrical transmission and distribution construction, required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple ongoing tasks in a fast-paced environment while working independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


Travel

Travel for this position is mostly limited to the state of Ohio and overnight stays will be approximately 50% annually.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and give speeches in a public setting and have good hearing and listening skills. The employee is required to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time. The employee must have good overall health and work into the evening hours when the situation requires.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. The hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but could include night and weekend activity, based on circumstances.
