Responsibilities

Full Job Description
To develop, implement, and evaluate all Emergency Preparedness and Environment of Care plans and programs in order to maintain a safe environment for patients and personnel. Assess and monitor compliance with Joint Commission, CDPH, OSHA, EPA, hazardous materials, emergency response standards, and other regulatory agencies. Communicate Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness information to management staff, supervisory staff, physicians and employees. Represent hospital in coordination with community and regional based agencies. Recommend courses of action for managing Environment of Care and Emergency Preparedness concerns and problems. Shriners Portland is looking for a full time Safety Officer to join the team! Key Responsibilities: • Assists with the review and development of the Emergency Operations Plan. • Plans, coordinates, and conducts bi-annual Disaster Drills in conjunction with state, regional and local response partners and within appropriate time constraints. • Develops and provides emergency preparedness concepts and procedures training for hospital management and staff. • Provide leadership in the formulation and consistent application of Environment of Care plans, policies and practices. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and local Environmental Health and Safety laws and Joint Commission standards. • Coordinates and conducts monthly Safety Surveillance Rounds; prepares a monthly report for the Safety/Risk Management Committee. • Assists Department Managers and Directors in enforcing safety regulations and codes. • Provides training on PPE, precautions and proper responses to Hazardous Material Spills or Exposures. • Plans, coordinates, and conducts Fire and Internal Disaster Drills; collects and analyzes performance data from Fire and Internal Disaster drills. • Acts as liaison officer to assure proper completion and documentation of alerts/recalls received for hospital use related medical devices. • Follows safety procedures, operates equipment and performs job-related duties in a safe manner which prevents accidents/injuries from occurring to self or others. Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor Health Science or related field • 2 years Safety experience • 2 years related work experience • Continuous participation in recognized safety training program The pay range for this position is $80,926.56 - $121,378.40. Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
