ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Public Works Department is looking for a Safety Analyst II to be responsible for accident and incident investigation and recommends safety improvements to management based on findings. Incumbents in this classification train and promote safe working practices to department employees and management.

Duties include:

• Responding to safety concerns from department business partners (contractors, customers, etc.);
• Leading department Incident Review and Safety Committees;
• Developing and implementing health and safety programs and policies; and conducting ergonomic evaluations.
• A well-qualified candidate should have a working knowledge of OSHA General and Construction regulations, NFPA 70E requirements for Electrical Workers, and DOT & FMSCA fleet safety regulatory requirements.
• Some positions supervise professional and/or clerical staff.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Strong knowledge in OSHA/DOT and other agency regulations.
• Professional Safety certification or OSHA 500 or 10/30 Series.

Ability to:

• Communicate with all levels of organization.
• Manage training program and make recommendations for improvement.

SALARY

Pay Range: $74,422.40 to $109,969.60 annually.

Hiring Range: $74,422.40 to $104,728.00 annually.

• Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

• Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
• Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
• Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
• When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Two years of experience in accident prevention and loss control programs,
• INCLUDING at least one year of professional work experience with department-wide safety and employee occupational health, training, and motor vehicle safety programs.
• AND Bachelor's degree in risk management, safety management, or a related field.
• Other combinations of education and experience which meets the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience in with the following safety programs:

• Regulatory compliance
• Risk assessment
• Policy creation
• Employee training, curriculum development, and delivery
• Fleet management
• Industrial equipment and machinery

Experience with/in:

• Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, LMS, or similar software.
• Developing safety standards and procedures.
• Safety training curriculum development and facilitation to small and large groups in virtual, online, and in-person environments.
• Ensuring compliance with General Industry & FMSCA and implementing incident reduction programs.
• Root cause analysis and investigation.
• Workplace safety program coordination and oversight including policy creation, training curriculum development and delivery, risk assessment and general compliance recommendations.
