Position Description:

Join the Momentum Program as a Deputy Release Train Engineer (RTE) and help drive the success of our Agile Release Train by supporting the Lead RTE in coordinating teams, strengthening delivery flow, and sustaining high quality program execution. In this role, you will partner closely with the Lead RTE to facilitate ART ceremonies, maintain alignment across teams, and reinforce SAFe best practices throughout the organization.

As Deputy RTE, you will sharpen your Agile delivery expertise while contributing to Momentum's transformation journey in a dynamic, supportive, and innovative environment.
The Deputy Release Train Engineer (RTE) supports the Lead RTE in guiding the Momentum Agile Release Train (ART) through its current SDLC delivery model while preparing the organization for a full transition to an AI Native SDLC. This role is ideal for a strong communicator, servant leader, and emerging Agile professional who is ready to operate across two delivery paradigms: today's traditional Agile environment and tomorrow's accelerated, AI supported flow.
The Deputy RTE strengthens execution, alignment, and team performance across Momentum's multi team environment. As the program transitions to AI Native delivery, the Deputy RTE plays a critical role in bridging methodologies, supporting experimentation, reinforcing training, and helping modernize processes, tooling, and governance.
This position is located in our Fairfax, VA, Knoxville, TN, Belton, TX, Lafayette, LA, or Lebanon, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Support the Current (Non-AI Native) Agile SDLC
. Assist the Lead RTE in organizing PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt workshops.
. Track risks, dependencies, and team performance to maintain transparency and alignment across the ART.
. Serve as a servant leader, supporting Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and cross functional teams in day to day delivery.
. Promote collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement across all teams.
. Support backlog health, readiness activities, and routine delivery workflows critical to Momentum's existing SDLC.
. Help prepare progress summaries, visibility reports, and stakeholder updates.
. Support the Transition to an AI Native SDLC
. Assist the Lead RTE in facilitating Momentum's evolution from ceremony heavy Agile delivery to a streamlined, AI augmented flow (e.g., AI generated refinement, automated testing, early risk identification).
. Work closely with AI Pods and team level experimentation groups, tracking learnings and surfacing challenges during PI foundation phases.
. Support coordination between engineering, quality, architecture, and support teams as AI Native tooling (Copilot, Ask Mom Code, Kuro) becomes integrated into daily work.
. Reinforce new delivery expectations such as skill/agent development, maintenance of AI generated assets, and validation frameworks for AI supported features.
. Help consolidate and refine ceremony cadences and meeting structures to reduce context switching and support AI Native flow.
. Assist with emerging AI Native metrics, including cycle time automation, release quality analytics, and skill count reporting.
. Promote communication and readiness by supporting newsletters, learning lounge sessions, office hours, and training events related to the AI Native SDLC transition.
. Act as a trusted deputy, ensuring program continuity when the Lead RTE is focused on strategic transformation work.
