Position SummaryThe Roving General Manager is a senior operational leader responsible for deploying to business units experiencing staffing shortages, performance challenges, or newly acquired locations. This role provides interim leadership, stabilizes operations, implements company standards, and ensures a successful transition to permanent management.
Principal Responsibilities- Deploy to multiple locations as needed to provide temporary General Manager leadership and oversight.
- Execute the company's strategic operating plan, ensuring alignment with safety, customer experience, efficiency, and profitability objectives.
- Assess business unit performance quickly and implement corrective action plans to stabilize operations.
- Lead and support local teams to ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, operational, regulatory, accounting, and ethical standards.
- Partner with sales teams to maintain and grow commercial, industrial, and municipal accounts during transition periods.
- Oversee and enforce safety programs to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
- Drive process improvements and standardization across sites.
- Identify leadership gaps and assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training permanent staff.
- Build relationships with local stakeholders, including customers, municipalities, and community groups.
- Provide detailed transition reports and ensure smooth handoffs to incoming leadership.
- Travel extensively (up to 75-90%) to support business needs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Minimum Requirements- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience (waste, logistics, transportation, or similar industry preferred).
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively on short notice.
