Responsibilities

  • Lead communication between hospital leadership and nursing unit staff.
  • Prepare and manage hospital shift reports and staffing data.

  • Conduct Employee Health activities related to worker injuries.
  • Ensure adherence to all nursing policies and standards, adjusting staffing as needed.
  • Respond to emergency situations according to hospital protocol.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

When fully operational, the 505,000-square-foot facility will house 292 beds - 200 for adult patients and 92 for children and adolescents. As DFW's first state-funded behavioral health hospital, it is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a modern and healing environment. The center provides comprehensive behavioral health treatment and features private patient rooms, abundant access to natural light and nature, and thoughtfully designed spaces that promote recovery. The hospital will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines.

Work Schedule: FT Days (3) 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing
  • Experience
    3 years to five (5) years RN experience, and
  • Licenses and Certifications

JOB DUTIES
  • Functions in a leadership capacity while acting as a liaison to ensure quality communication between hospital leadership and nursing unit leaders and staff. Serves as a resource to staff for solving clinical problems related to staffing.
  • Responsible for preparation of the hospital shift reports. Including data for staffing and census. Serves as a rotating member of the Staffing Effectiveness Committee. Participates in, selection, education, and implementation of an electronic scheduling system. Created monthly staffing reports. Analyzes staffing resource utilization especially unfilled staffing needs.
  • Supervises all aspects of nursing care throughout the hospital. Effectively problem solves and mediates conflict resolution related to staffing. Prioritizes division of nursing staffing to assure adequate staffing throughout the hospital. Manages use of temporary labor to ensure use of temporary labor is warranted. Fulfills staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts. Facilitates designated staffing meetings.
  • Performs Employee Health related activities including employee injuries and Workers Compensation when occupational health is not available.
  • Adheres and facilitates adherence by other personnel to all policies and procedures, ANA Code of Ethics, TJC standards, and nationally recognized standards of nursing practice. Reviews staffing/nursing and revises as necessary to meet the specific needs of the patients on a shift-by-shift basis. Coordinates staffing with collaboration with patient care areas. Makes ongoing changes to staffing as determined by fluctuations in census and patient acuity, to assure safe delivery of care.
  • Responds to Emergency situations including but not limited to: Code Blue, Rapid Response, and Code Rush according to Hospital Policy. Role Models pro-active problem solving by collaborating with staff to ensure effective resolution of staffing issues. Utilizes chain of command for unresolved or escalating staffing issues as needed. Advocates for patients and staff to provide for safe delivery of care and/or a safe environment of care.
