The Clinical Coordinator (RN) will work in our Radiation Therapy department providing holistic, quality nursing care for patients/families and/or others for a patient population within the Radiation Therapy Department. Under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist the Registered Nurse (RN) will assess and identify actual or potential problems a patient may be experiencing, develop a plan of care, monitor the effectiveness of the interventions during the course of treatment and throughout follow up care. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Educates patients on the radiation therapy process, procedures and simulation experience.
- Discuss the various treatment modalities to be implemented, regarding identified learning needs, skin care, potential side effects and system management, pain control measures and nutritional needs.
- Assist physicians with patient examination during consultations, weekly status check, follow-up visits, and as needed.
- Provide nursing care as prescribed by the physician or warranted by patient condition. Includes but not limited to dressing changes, skin and wound care, suctioning of patients, glucose monitoring, and monitoring of oxygen saturations.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements: • Current Connecticut RN License
Education: • BSN strongly preferred
Experience: • Two (2) years of Previous Oncology Nursing experience strongly preferred
