Riverbed Systems Engineer SME to support the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) III contract. As a member of our team, you will help to assist USSOCOM, Service Component Commands, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOC), and deployed forces in the delivery of a full spectrum of Information Technology (IT) services to operate and maintain information flow, communications, and connectivity globally.

The purpose of the Special Operations Forces Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order (TO) is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services to maintain Network Operations (NetOps); maintain systems and network infrastructure; provide end user and common device support; provide configuration, change, license, and asset management; conduct training, and perform Install, Move, Add, Change (IMACs) services. The responsibilities and tasks associated with each requirement play a pivotal role to USSOCOM, the CIO/J6 organization, and ultimately the end-user who operate around the globe 24x7x365.

The SME Systems Engineer serves as the senior technical authority for Riverbed performance monitoring, digital experience management, and network visibility platforms across the enterprise environment. This role is responsible for engineering, administration, optimization, cybersecurity compliance, and lifecycle management of Riverbed technologies excluding SteelHead WAN optimization appliances.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable Riverbed monitoring solutions across multiple classified and unclassified environments, ensuring compliance with enclave architecture and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Engineer and support integrations between Riverbed platforms and enterprise systems, including network, cybersecurity, IT service management (ITSM), SIEM, and other monitoring solutions to enhance operational visibility and performance.
  • Provide advanced Tier II/III technical support, performing system administration, performance tuning, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex infrastructure and application issues across Windows and Linux environments.
  • Manage platform lifecycle activities including configuration management, software upgrades, patching, backup and recovery validation, change control processes, and system health monitoring to ensure operational reliability.
  • Analyze network, application, and endpoint performance data to identify trends, optimize system performance, reduce user-impacting incidents, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIG requirements, access control standards, vulnerability management processes, and Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, data flow diagrams, standard operating procedures, engineering artifacts, operational runbooks, and executive-level reports.
  • Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, systems, and application teams to support incident response activities, resolve interoperability challenges, and ensure seamless integration of enterprise technologies.
  • Automate routine administrative and operational tasks through scripting and process improvements, leveraging tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python to improve efficiency and system consistency.
  • Serve as a technical advisor and liaison to government and contractor stakeholders, providing engineering expertise, mentoring junior team members, and briefing leadership on system performance, risks, and operational readiness.


You MUST have:

  • DoDD 8570 01-M IAT II, specifically CompTIA Security +
  • DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • Must be DoW 8140 compliant under the Work Role Code 451 - System Administrator - Advanced level.
  • Demonstrated ability in performance optimization and system engineering processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
    • TCP/IP, SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow
    • Application Performance Monitoring (APM)
    • Network Performance Monitoring (NPM)
    • Windows & Linux server administration
    • VMware or other virtualization platforms
    • Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
    • REST API integrations
    • Splunk, ServiceNow, or similar enterprise tools
    • SQL databases
    • Multi-enclave architecture support (NIPR/SIPR)


It's GREAT if you also have:

  • SCSA: SolarWinds Certified Systems Administrator (Not Required but highly desired)
  • RCSA: Riverbed Certified Solutions Associate. (Not Required but highly desired)


Education:

  • Min 14 years with HS degree, 12 years with AS/AA degree, 10 years with BS/BA, 8 years with MS/MA, 5 years with PhD
