Employer: AMAZON.COM SERVICES LLC

Offered Position: Risk Manager III

Job Location: Seattle, Washington

Position Responsibilities:

Manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional projects in support of significant business problem or partially defined/ambiguous strategy. Stay abreast of the developments in both internal Amazon policies/trends and external macro-economic environment and take proactive actions to mitigate risk and amend underwriting strategy granularly in segments where stress could be expected. Evaluate new data sources beyond the current data to assess if these provide a more complete picture of the potential borrower, use the data sources to slice the risk profile of Amazon customers and thereby enable expanding in low-risk segments while tightening underwriting in higher risk structurally unprofitable segments. Work with the portfolio risk analysts/managers to utilize and analyze data on past default cases to incorporate indicators to apply to future underwriting and manage loss rates. Support initiatives to drive growth in originations/revenue in partnership with product/business teams and track against the plan, proposing path to green where needed. Evaluate and negotiate contracts for third party data needed for improved underwriting. Define project scope and objectives, and drive improvements that are quantified with metrics. Partner with internal legal teams to fully understand and interpret the laws, regulations, and business policies, and program controls applicable to relevant org-level goals. Provide a long-term perspective and context for portfolio management related business and technology decisions, partnering with cross-functional teams to determine what projects move forward and in what priority order, increasing underwriting in low-risk profitable segments and reducing exposure to high-risk unprofitable segments. Actively participate in the hiring process as well as mentor others, improving their skills and ability to get things done.
