Position Overview:

MPC has an opportunity for a Risk Data & Systems Analytics Director! This role reports to the Risk Policies, Frameworks, & Data Management Senior Director and is responsible for leading the team that is focused on providing data and system support to the Middle Office Risk Oversight, Risk Policy and Performance Measurement teams. Under the strategic leadership of the successful candidate, the team will provide data insights and visualizations for Middle Office, maintain master pricing data and provide business requirements in concert with IT and Commercial to maintain Marathon's Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems. Middle Office is new to MPC and this is an opportunity to help shape the Middle Office relationships and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and govern enterprise data standards across the deal lifecycle, inventory tracking, and trading-related datasets to support risk oversight and performance measurement. Serves as the primary data steward, ensuring data quality, consistency, traceability, and alignment across systems and reporting environments.
  • Design and oversee data architecture and frameworks that enable scalable, reliable risk, exposure, and performance measurement across Middle Office and Commercial functions. Partners with technology and engineering teams align data structures with business requirements and drive standardization across commodities, regions, and functions.
  • Enable visualization and reporting capabilities by overseeing the development and maintenance of dashboards and analytical tools that deliver accurate, timely, and actionable insights. Establishes standards for data visualization to ensure clarity, consistency, and usability for stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into data and system solutions by leading identification and prioritization of needs related to risk and performance measurement. Converts business workflows into technical requirements and partners with Trading, Value Chains, and technology teams to deliver system enhancements and new capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain a strong data quality and control environment by defining controls that ensure data accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Oversee data validation, reconciliation processes, and issue resolution in partnership with risk, finance, and assurance functions.
  • Provide cross-functional data and systems leadership by serving as a central point of coordination across Commercial Risk Oversight, Performance Measurement, Trading, Value Chains, and technology teams. Ensures consistent data definitions, usage, and alignment in support of enterprise data and digital initiatives.
  • Lead and develop data and analytics team capabilities by setting accountability for data ownership, system support, and reporting delivery. Builds organizational capability in data management, architecture, and analytics while driving continuous improvement in data quality, system performance, and insight generation.
