General Summary:We are looking for an experienced engineer to join a team working to refine and advance the RISC-V ISA and ecosystem. Breadth and adaptability are essential for applying skills across a wide technology area at the intersection of hardware and software.Responsibilities- Contribute to technical standards: interpretation, review, composition, collaboration with colleagues and competitors, including writing complete, concise, and accurate technical documentation for RISC-V.
- Writing tests and tools in assembly, C/C++, Python, Ruby, Linux shell (bash).
- Design and develop toolchain components (including interpreters, compilers, linkers, loaders, simulators, and emulators).
- Participate in and contribute to the open-source community and RISC-V International and technical groups.
Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• 1+ year of any combination of academic and/or work experience with debugging techniques.
Minimum Qualifications:- 5+ years software development experience using assembly languages, C/C++, Python.
- Experience with CPU and instruction set architectures.
- Experience with Open-source development methodologies including Git, GitHub, continuous integration, collaborative development, and review.
- Productive use and knowledge of generative artificial intelligence tools and their limitations.
- Strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:- Familiarity with RISC-V Unified Database (UDB) open-source project.
This project is central to the team's efforts (https://github.com/riscv/riscv-unified-db). - Software development in Ruby.
- Experience with tool chain components (including interpreters, compilers, linkers, loaders, simulators, and emulators).
- Low-level RISC-V technical details: assembly language, encoding and decoding, CSRs, instruction semantics, privilege levels, extensions, profiles, and basic operational aspects of a RISC-V CPU.
Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits: $97,500.00 - $185,900.00
