Are you motivated, energetic, and ready to take your career to the next level? We are looking for a Resident Construction Engineer to be part of a growing team building B&N's Construction Service practice in Indianapolis, IN.

B&N Resident Construction Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Performs project manager duties with tracking costs and hours on construction projects
  • Assists with business development, supervision and mentoring of staff and project management for the construction section
  • Inspects, documents, and verifies that work in progress by the construction contractor is in compliance with contract documents including the plans, specifications, schedule, shop drawings and other documents
  • Ensures construction methods and procedures are followed and that materials incorporated into project conform to the project material specifications
  • Reviews and resolves construction issues and disputes with contractor and owner
  • Reviews Inspector's daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, and quantity of materials received
  • Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform complicated mathematical calculations, constructability and schedule reviews, and tracking of pay items completed
  • Performs on-site material testing and verification
  • Create as-built record drawings
  • Write technical reports summarizing inspection findings
  • Prepares change orders, progress estimates, weekly reports and other associated documents for projects
  • Creates and compiles close out / final construction records documents for submission


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • PE registration in the State of Indiana required
  • 12+ years of construction-related experience
  • SiteManager Software experience preferred
  • INDOT Qualified Testing proficiencies required
  • Valid Driver's license and good driving record
  • Good communication skills and detail oriented
  • Software experience with Microsoft Office and highly proficient with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools
