Full Job Description
General Description:

The purpose of this role is to conduct scientific research and develop process control for plastic welding methods in industrial applications. It will also involve the development of a product strategy roadmap and product vision for emerging technologies in plastics processing.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Process system design and control
  • Design and development of AI driven machine monitoring solutions
  • Define and develop the product strategy roadmap and product vision for standard products regarding plastic welding applications using laser technology
  • Manage the product development throughout the product life cycle, by gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements
  • Work with Sales and Marketing to ensure that the company's overall strategy and goals are met
  • Investigate process feasibility for Sales and Project Management teams
  • Provide technical information/support for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments
  • Present proposals, reports, and findings to Sales, Project Management, and Engineering teams
  • Confer with Project Management, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering to discuss project specifications, procedures, and budgets
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports
  • Direct and manage government funding opportunities for R&D tax credits - applications, audits, reviews


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Graduate degree in engineering from an accredited university required (MASc or PhD)
  • Knowledge/understanding of PLC programming
  • Working knowledge of various programming languages such as C#, Python, and MATLAB
  • Working knowledge of industry and engineering standards
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills
  • Travel to USA, Mexico, and Canada (less than 10% of time)
