The at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor is seeking a Research Project Manager to join the team.
Position Summary
The Research Lab Manager plays a critical role in driving the success of the Murray Lab’s research program. This individual will oversee daily lab operations, lead and mentor research staff, and contribute directly to experimental design, execution, and analysis.
This position requires a highly organized, collaborative, and innovative scientist who can operate independently while ensuring alignment with the Principal Investigator’s research goals. The Lab Manager will serve as a key liaison across JAX teams and help ensure research projects progress efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages the daily operation of the lab. Provides training and guidance, and resolves personnel problems. Participates in hiring, performance evaluation, development of staff, and disciplinary decisions.
- The incumbent must keep abreast of advances in the field, evaluating alternative methodologies and implementing them to improve the quality of current services or to provide new services.
- Coordinates and conduct research.
- Design, troubleshoot and conduct experiments; analyzing and communicating data.
- Assist in writing grants, patents, internal reports, and peer reviewed research papers.
Qualifications:
- BSc in relevant field with >5 years experience working in a research laboratory
- A deep and practical knowledge of cellular and molecular immunology, in vitro assays assessing immune cell functions, mouse models of infectious disease and/or cancer.
- Natural Killer cell expertise strongly preferred but not required
- For Research Lab Manager – a minimum of 2 years experience successfully supervising and mentoring a team.
- Proven ability to design and evaluate scientifically controlled and relevant experiments, plus data organizational skills
- Must be a self-motivated, team-oriented, patient and disciplined problem solver and solution builder
- Demonstrated ability to be a positive team player across diverse internal and external organizations
- Must possess the ability to develop and deliver training material to subordinate staff.
- Strong project and interpersonal management skills
- Computer skills necessary for analyses, data acquisition, literature searches, data sharing, report presentation etc.
- Proven abilities to formulate and write reports, grants, and peer reviewed papers.
Pay Range: $63744 - $106723 per year, depending upon experience.
