Overview

Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid.

Summary:

The Research Physiologist will provide technical assistance on the collection of human physiological data in environmental extremes of heat, cold, high terrestrial altitude, and subterranean.

This position is based in Natick, MA and is primarily on-site, with situational telework permitted only when approved.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:
  • Collects and supports analysis of human physiological and exercise data in environmental extremes.
  • Organizes and submits Institutional Review Board (IRB) regulatory documentation.
  • Performs phlebotomy and basic clinical laboratory procedures, including blood processing.
  • Documents research activities and maintains accurate study records.
  • Collaborates effectively with USARIEM investigators and staff to support research objectives and maintain a productive team environment.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
  • Phlebotomy and basic clinical laboratory skills
  • Ability to support laboratory equipment and laboratory-space maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively with USARIEM investigators and multidisciplinary research teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher
  • Experience in study coordination
  • Human-subjects research experience
  • Environmental physiology data-collection experience
  • Experience conducting physiological data collection
  • Experience generating and coordinating IRB/regulatory documentation
  • Experience with data cleaning, processing, and initial analysis in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience preparing data tables and figures
  • Proficient in exercise and metabolic measurements including maximal oxygen uptake, submaximal exercise testing, resting ventilation, and pulmonary function testing.
  • Experience with organizing and submitting IRB regulatory documents.
  • Experience in phlebotomy and clinical laboratory skills (basic blood processing).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Maintain effective team relationships with investigator/staff from USARIEM.
  • Travel: CONUS travel may be required based on study schedules and mission needs.
  • Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 3 investigation (or equivalent). At minimum, a favorable interim suitability determination must be granted before contract work begins, pending final adjudication.

Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
  • Any related additional certifications.

Pay and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $94,000.00 to $114,000.00 annually.
