Position SummaryReporting to the Director, Data, Analytics and Research Office (DARO), the Research Analyst provides institutional-level evaluation, analytical interpretation, and advisory support for Centennial College's equity, diversity and inclusion-related strategic priorities and other institutional initiatives.
The Research Analyst uses quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches to evaluate programs, services, policies, and institutional initiatives. This includes analyzing and interpreting evidence from stakeholder surveys, Qualtrics-based course feedback, focus groups, consultations, Quality Review activities, policy consultations, institutional EDI or climate assessments, and other institutional research processes.
Working independently and collaboratively, the Research Analyst contributes expertise in evaluation design, applied research, research ethics, performance measurement, and knowledge translation. The position works with academic and administrative stakeholders to ensure that evidence is methodologically sound, appropriately contextualized, and translated into practical insights that support program improvement, institutional effectiveness, corporate reporting, and accountability.
Responsibilities - Evaluate EDI and institutional initiatives using data and evidence to measure impact, identify equity gaps and barriers, and support continuous improvement.
- Analyze and disaggregate institutional surveys, Qualtrics-based course feedback, and stakeholder consultation data to assess participation, outcomes, equity impacts, and areas for improvement across programs and initiatives.
- Design and support research and evaluation projects using a variety of methods, and translate finding into actionable insights to support committees, working groups, and decision-making.
- Assess data quality, response patterns, potential bias, methodological limitations and contextual factors to support accurate, ethical and responsible interpretation of findings.
- Provide guidance on research methods, ethics, and EDI-related policy and reporting initiatives, ensuring findings are evidence-based and aligned with institutional priorities.
- Coordinate evaluation and research projects, including planning, stakeholder engagement, timelines, risks, deliverables and communication.
- Conduct ongoing academic, sector and open-source research and maintain current knowledge of leading work in global citizenship, equity, inclusion, evaluation and applied analytics to support evidence-based institutional practices.
- Support colleagues and student research assistants on EDI-related evaluation and reporting practices, research methods, ethical requirements and the appropriate use of evidence. Identify opportunities to mobilize findings through publications, presentations and research forums.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience - Post-graduate degree (e.g., Master's degree) in a relevant field such as Equity Studies, Education, Organizational Development, Research, Public Policy, Data Analytics or Evaluation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five (5) years of experience related to quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, research design, program evaluation, institutional research, performance measurement or a related area.
- Demonstrated experience advancing global citizenship and EDI initiatives, supported by strong knowledge of anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and decolonized research methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data and research finding into actionable recommendations for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience building effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, community partners, and equity-deserving groups.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work collaborate effectively across the College.
- Knowledge of Program Quality Review, academic quality assurance, institutional accountability or higher education research is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the Tri-Council Policy Statement and First Nations Principles of OCAP® is considered an asset.
- Self-directed, highly organized, and proactive in managing priorities and deliverables.
