Full Job Description
The Role

You'll build Qualitate's Energy coverage from the ground up, using Qualitate's next-generation methodology. Reporting directly to the Director of Research, you'll partner with sector leads to turn first-hand expert insight into data-driven analysis that investors and corporate teams act on.

We're hiring for analytical ability, writing quality, and speed - we're looking for the desire to turn exposure to the Energy industry into expertise. You'll build upon your knowledge of the space and uncover true depth across the energy value chain in your first year. You'll start in energy, utilities, and clean energy, and the work will naturally pull you into adjacent ground: grid infrastructure, industrial capex cycles, commodities, the physical layer behind AI. Ultimately, you'll bring the Qualitate methodology to energy's most in-demand sectors - with the same approach that has already been successful in revolutionizing primary research in several other industries.

What the day-to-day looks like:
• Leverage the company's proprietary datasets to build company and market analyses across energy, utilities, clean energy, and oil & gas - working under a sector lead at first and increasingly carving out your own niche.
• Turn data collection studies into client-ready outputs: quantified findings, charts, scorecards, and written takeaways that drive value for investors and corporate clients.
• Develop forward-looking analyses and uncover industry dynamics, key growth drivers, and demand shifts across themes including electrification and grid buildout, generation mix, load growth from data centers and industrial customers, and the real economics of the energy transition.
• Contribute thought leadership by creating high-impact content for our newsletter and client communications.
• Support and learn to lead client & prospect conversations through calls, webinars, and events.
• Contribute research judgement to hone the fidelity of our first-to-market research methodology; partner with product and engineering teams on design to continue the creation of our best-in-class AI-native research platform.
• Stay ahead of emerging trends, technologies, and innovators shaping the future of energy systems - from SMRs and clean generation to grid modernization, storage, and more.

Who This Role Is For
1-3 years professional experience in data-driven research creation. Equity research, financial analysis, market research, and/or consulting roles. Must have exposure to energy, utilities, or industrials.
You understand the fundamental research workflow - how funds source ideas and build conviction through data and primary research - or you are eager to learn it quickly.
Genuine curiosity about how energy systems actually work. You should find it energizing to work across the full value chain - generation, transmission and distribution, utilities, and the industrial customers consuming the power - and you should be able to get to a credible working knowledge of new areas quickly.
You communicate your ideas clearly. Long-form and short-form writing expertise required - you must be able to synthesize data into digestible, forward-looking insights, and you should be comfortable presenting your work to investors and corporate clients.
You experiment heavily with AI. You're constantly testing and refining AI tools and agents as they ship, and build them into your daily workflows - automating pieces of your own job to drive higher productivity - and sharing learnings with your team.

What Sets You Apart
You learn and iterate quickly. For this role, this is the single most important thing. You'll be working alongside accomplished professionals across research, product, and engineering. Pick up what they know and implement; impart what's incremental onto them.
A strong sense of ownership. This is not just a supporting seat. You'll be handed more scope than your years of experience would suggest, and the expectation is that you take work from question to published output rather than waiting to be assigned the next step.
An analytical mind. You get excited about diving into a large semi-structured dataset to understand key inflections and generate new ideas. Proficiency in managing/analyzing large data sets. SQL experience is strongly preferred.
An interest in the physical value chain. Energy research depends on reaching the right people - utility planners, EPC contractors, independent power producers, plant operators, and large industrial power buyers. You should be curious about who actually holds the signal in a given market and how to get a straight answer out of them.
You use AI for both speed and rigor. You understand that AI can be used to both accelerate your initial learning in a space and help you go deeper than you otherwise could have - pressure-testing ideas, automating the analyses you never had time for, and expanding what one analyst can rigorously cover. Early in your career, this is the leverage that lets you cover more ground without sacrificing depth.

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $130k-$170k
Bonus: Variable dependent on achievement of goals at the company level, team level, and individual level
Equity: Meaningful early-stage grant with upside tied to company growth
Benefits: Health coverage, flexible PTO, paid holidays
Location: Full-time, in-person in New York City

High velocity. Fast paced work environment in terms of growth, decision making, and time to impact.
High agency. Ownership over how you work, not just what you work on. We hire people we trust to figure it out.
A builder's mindset. You'll create the processes, playbooks, and systems that define how this company scales.
Shared ambition. A small, early team disrupting the multi-billion dollar market research industry with AI.
Joy. We work hard and genuinely enjoy working with each other. Dedication to our work is matched only by our passion for fostering an enjoyable, collaborative work environment.
