Summary

CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in McPherson, Kansas. We are looking for a Reliability/Rotating Equipment Engineer to assist the Plant Engineering Department to maintain, design, and recommend all types of rotating equipment, systems, and parts. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Review, update and/or establish new/existing rotating equipment by engineering standards and purchase specifications. Provide technical assistance with regard to routine maintenance and major overhauls of refinery rotating equipment.
  • Write repair and maintenance procedures and standards. Apply technical expertise in the areas of lubrication, mechanical seals and systems, vibration analysis, and machine monitoring.
  • Provide technical direction and design input for process and installation design of rotating equipment.
  • Assist with initial start-up and operation of major refinery equipment.
  • Be a technical resource for all rotating equipment in a refinery.
  • Create and administer preventative maintenance program for all refinery rotating equipment under supervision of a senior-level engineer.
  • Select rotating equipment for the application based on life cost analysis.
  • Interface with staff engineer and contractors, including developing work scope for overhauls and arranging for service technicians.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned, including performing Root Cause Failure Analysis, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) for rotating equipment, present "One Point Lessons" and support Plant Engineering Department as required.


Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 2+ years of rotating equipment/reliability engineering experience and/or training


Additional Qualifications

  • Must gain certification in reliability technologies within 2 years
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 4+ years of rotating equipment/reliability engineering experience and/or training
  • Oil & gas industry experience
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
  • Knowledge and use of Bently Nevada System 1
  • Knowledge and use of WinRock recip trap technology
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre-employment screenings to include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements and FMSCA Clearinghouse.

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
