Overview

Johnson Controls is looking for a Reliability Engineering Specialist to join our team. This role will play a crucial role in supporting our reliability engineering expansion plans as part of NPI Quality team. Working closely to a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will assist in system and component failure investigations, develop and execute test plans, analyze test results, and provide actionable recommendations. Your work will contribute to ensuring our products are robust, safe, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support complex failure investigations by identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.

  • Develop, execute, and oversee reliability and performance test plans for products and systems.

  • Analyze test results using statistical tools and effectively communicate insights to stakeholders.

  • Assist in the implementation and continuous improvement of Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action Systems (FRACAS).

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate Reliability/Design Quality Engineering principles into product development processes.

  • Contribute to the development and optimization of preventive maintenance strategies for customer deployments.

  • Review and assess new product testing plans to ensure alignment with internal standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor commissioning and field service data and reports to identify emerging failure trends and high-risk issues; and drive data-informed improvement initiatives.

  • Foster collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Field Service team to enhance product performance, reliability outcomes, and customer value.

  • Provide field support as needed, including direct collaboration with field project managers, and field service technicians to resolve reliability issues and mitigate reliability risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field), Diploma in Engineering, or a degree in Applied Physics.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability engineering or in root cause analysis (RCA) within mechanical, electrical, or related engineering domains.

  • HVAC, static, or rotating equipment (mechanical), or

  • Power electronics, power systems, or control systems (electrical)

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis methods and tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients.

  • Familiaritywith reading/Interpretingengineeringdrawings, including working knowledge of GD&T and CAD tools.

Preferred

  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) Designation with APEGA (or eligibility to obtain) or equivalent.

  • Experience with reliability engineering tools and methodologies such as FMEA/FMECA, Weibull analysis, FRACAS, root cause analysis (RCA), reliability block diagrams (RBD), fault tree analysis (FTA), and/or Design for Reliability (DfR) practices.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $117,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
