Full Job Description
Regional Reliability Engineer
Location: Logan, UT (Primary) | Support for Smithfield, UT as needed
Travel: 10-20% regional travel monthly | 5-15% annual travel outside the region
Relocation: Candidates relocating 50+ miles are eligible for a $10,000 relocation bonus plus a comprehensive relocation package

This position is responsible for maximizing equipment reliability, asset availability, and manufacturing performance through proactive maintenance strategies, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong cross-functional leadership skills, and a passion for improving uptime, reducing operational risk, and building world-class reliability programs.

Key Responsibilities
Asset Reliability & Lifecycle Management
  • Develop and implement regional reliability strategies to improve asset performance and operational efficiency.
  • Drive standardized asset lifecycle management practices to optimize reliability and total cost of ownership.
  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and long-term operational performance.
  • Establish and reinforce component and engineering standards across facilities.
Reliability Engineering & Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze maintenance history, equipment performance data, sensor outputs, and operational trends to identify reliability risks and prioritize improvements.
  • Apply engineering analytics, advanced statistical methods, and predictive insights to improve asset performance.
  • Lead reliability initiatives utilizing methodologies including:
    • Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
    • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
    • Predictive Maintenance (PdM)
    • Condition-Based Monitoring
    • Lean Six Sigma principles
  • Develop reliability KPIs and reporting structures to drive accountability and measurable outcomes.
Failure Analysis & Risk Mitigation
  • Lead investigations into equipment and process failures to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Conduct reliability and operational risk assessments to reduce downtime and business interruption.
  • Develop mitigation plans including redundancy strategies, asset upgrades, and preventive controls.
Maintenance Strategy & Asset Care
  • Strengthen preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Drive precision maintenance practices including assembly and lubrication excellence.
  • Improve maintenance effectiveness through planning, scheduling, condition monitoring, and reliability-centered workflows.
  • Support reliability practices across automation systems, PLCs, robotics, boilers, refrigeration systems, and facility infrastructure.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Facilitate reliability best practice sharing across facilities and teams.
  • Train and support maintenance and operations partners on reliability methodologies, tools, and performance metrics.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS teams to align reliability initiatives with production goals.
  • Establish and govern engineering standards and operational excellence practices.
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including SQF standards.
  • Support Food Safety and Food Quality Plans and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Establish and audit PCPs, CCPs, SOPs, and operational procedures.
  • Lead corrective action efforts for process deviations and compliance gaps.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Reliability Engineering
    • Maintenance Leadership
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Design Engineering
    • Capital Projects (CapEx)
    • Operational Excellence / Lean Manufacturing
  • Proven success improving asset performance and manufacturing reliability.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Certifications in Reliability, Maintenance, Tribology, Lubrication, Vibration Analysis, Ultrasonics, Metallurgy, or related specialties.
