TREATING REHABILITATION DIRECTOR

Reports to: Director of Rehab Administration and Facility Administrator

Staff Supervised: All rehabilitation department personnel

General Purpose

Directs all activities of the Rehabilitation Department including clinical assessments, record keeping, compliance with treatment plans, case management, compliance with state licensure requirements and all Clinical Policies and Procedures. Provides quality resident care to enable the resident to achieve and maintain the maximum level of functional ability while maintaining positive level of interaction with facility and resident.

Prior long-term care experience preferred

Essential Job Responsibilities
• Overall coordination of all activities and services provided by the rehabilitation department.
• Helps coordinate admissions of residents requiring skilled rehab services.
• Evaluates, develops, organizes and implements resident care programs through the utilization of selected treatment procedures in individual and group sessions.
• Daily determines and schedules staff relative to patient needs.
• Coordinates the rehab requirements and the plan of care of each resident.
• Conducts patient referral marketing in conjunction with admissions' programs.
• Assures completion of required quality assurance and program evaluation activities.
• Completes required HR functions including interviewing candidates, posting job openings, conducting performance/competency reviews, monitoring time sheets and managing the progressive discipline process.
• Manages own caseload in all areas of identifying residents through screening process and scheduling treatment individually or in groups while maintaining efficiency expectations.
• Instructs resident, family, and caregivers in treatment to be continued upon discharge.
• Ensures all documentation/treatment conforms to documentation/billing policies and procedures.
• Provides oversight and direction of rehabilitation personnel and assists in the supervision and education of affiliating students.
• Assists in the assurance that the physical surroundings and equipment are sanitary, orderly and free from conditions that may cause safety hazards.
• Complies with ethical, regulatory, procedural and professional standards and practice guidelines.

Residents' Rights Functions
  • Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy. Fosters feelings of self worth and respect by treating residents with kindness and understanding.

• Knows and complies with Residents' Bill of Rights. Reports all grievances and resident complaints to administrator and/or Director of Nursing immediately.
• Reports any incident involving rehab staff to RVP immediately.

Physical Requirements

Good physical and mental health. Frequent standing and walking during work periods. May require turning, stooping, bending, stretching, crouching, fine hand/eye coordination, and lifting may be involved in treatments of residents. Visual and hearing acuity to detect changes in residents' conditions and respond to pages. Ability to communicate with residents, families, staff, co-workers, medical personnel, regulatory agencies and consultants.

Other Job Functions
• Maintains own professional competence as well as learning new creative trends in rehab treatment through participation in continuing education, seminars and training programs.
• Attends all mandatory in-services.
