Job Description

The Float Pool Nursing Department is a dynamic and versatile team of highly skilled registered nurses who provide essential staffing support across multiple units within the healthcare system. These nurses are expertly cross trained in various specialties and are deployed to areas experiencing increased patient volume, staffing shortages, or other emergent needs. They bring exceptional flexibility, adaptability, and clinical expertise to every assignment, ensuring continuity of care and upholding the highest standard or patient safety and satisfaction. Their broad skill set enables them to seamlessly integrate into diverse clinical environments, including medical-surgical, PICU, NICU, emergency, and specialty units - while consistently delivering high-quality, compassionate care.

Responsibilities

Responsible for maintaining the knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of stated behaviors. Carries out legal responsibilities within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act. Accountable to the NURSE SVC SUPV 2 for overall work performance.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of pediatric critical care (PICU) neonatal critical care will be considered (NICU) RN experience required
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations


Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)


Licensure/Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)


Salary Information

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
