Responsibilities

  • Develop and sustain a business partnership with hotel leadership, acting as an advocate and cultural ambassador.
  • Engage regularly with team members to address issues, oversee corporate leave management, and facilitate training initiatives.
  • Support employee relations and engagement efforts within the region to foster high retention and team member satisfaction.
  • Coach hotel leadership on handling employee issues, documentation, and compliance with employment laws.
  • Assist the Regional Director of Operations by supporting various leadership and team needs.
  • Maintain employee relations tracking and reporting, providing actionable insights to regional leadership.
  • Lead investigations and employee relations matters within Northern California, collaborating with the Director of Human Resources.

Full Job Description
This position is based in Northern California and will travel to the Northern California portfolio of hotels.

Position: Regional Human Resources Business Partner

Department: Human Resources

Position Reports to: SeniorRegional Human Resources Business Partner

Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not available for this position.

Pay Range: $110,000 - $140,000 annually (pay will be based on experience and market data of the position), plus discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

What will you be doing most days?
  • Develop, maintain and support a business partnership with the hotel leadership and work teams serving as an advocate, cultural ambassador, subject matter expert, and problem solver on team member issues
  • Check in with team members on any issues, work with corporate on leave management, benefit communication, team member training and other initiatives
  • Provide employee relations and engagement support to the region with the focus on achieving best in class workforce for high retention and team member engagement
  • Provide coaching/counseling to hotel leadership on employee issues, documentation, terminations, and navigating through employment laws
  • Assist the Regional Director of Operations on various leadership and team member support needs
  • Develop and maintain employee relations tracking, reporting, and people analytics (e.g., turnover, engagement, ER trends) to deliver actionable insights to regional leadership
  • Lead employee relations matters and investigations within Northern California (or other regions as needed), partnering closely with the Director of Human Resources
  • Conduct exit interviews within the region and provide information to corporate & regional leadership
  • Provide training on a variety of employment related topics as needed
  • Actively and consistently participate in weekly hotel staff meetings, daily line up meetings, departmental meetings, as needed or otherwise requested
  • Support hiring managers with recruitment efforts and provide guidance, suggestions, and work on recruitment initiatives
  • Assist with orientation of new hires within the region


What are the requirements for this position?
  • You are a skilled relationship builder at all levels
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese strongly preferred
  • You have strong working knowledge of regional employment law such as wage & hour, documentation, workers' comp, federal and state LOA, and labor relations
  • You bring empathy and a service mindset to help drive engagement and retention efforts
  • You are extremely comfortable & skilled with coaching and counseling to our Property leaders (Regional Operations Director, GM, AGM and Department Managers)
  • You have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • You have excellent training skills - expert user in PowerPoint, eLearning/LMS platforms, virtual training tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom), and HR technology including HRIS/ATS and AI-enabled tools, comfortable with leading training or rolling out new initiatives or reinforcing existing ones
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations and investigations, ideally in hospitality or multi-unit operations
  • Prior experience working in a leadership role at a hotel is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience; PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred

Travel Requirements

This position requires up to 30-40% travel. Travel is outside the local area and overnight.
