Summary:

Norsat International Inc. is seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Richmond, BC. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and production of advanced RF and microwave communication products used in satellite and wireless communication systems.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in RF circuit design, power amplifiers, microwave assemblies, and product development, along with a passion for solving complex technical challenges in a collaborative environment.

What You'll Do:
  • Design, develop, and support RF and microwave communication products, including Block Upconverters (BUCs) and Solid-State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs)
  • Participate in product development activities from concept and prototype through validation and production release
  • Design and optimize RF circuits and high-frequency assemblies
  • Support power amplifier development, PCB layout reviews, and system integration activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet technical, quality, manufacturing, and customer requirements
  • Perform RF testing, characterization, tuning, and validation activities
  • Analyze and troubleshoot RF performance issues at the circuit, subsystem, and product level
  • Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design records
  • Support manufacturing teams with product introduction and production improvements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on product performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable technical standards and specifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in RF and microwave engineering, including design, development, testing, or integration of RF communication products
  • Strong understanding of RF and microwave fundamentals, including power amplifiers, frequency conversion, filtering, synthesizers, and signal transmission
  • Experience working with circuits operating at microwave frequencies, including applications above 10 GHz
  • Hands-on experience with RF circuit integration, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization
  • Experience performing RF testing, characterization, validation, and analysis using laboratory test equipment
  • Knowledge of schematic capture, PCB design, and layout review processes
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and product development best practices
  • Experience with waveguide technologies, analog circuits, and digital electronics
  • Familiarity with RF production, assembly, and manufacturing environments
  • Experience using engineering tools such as ADS, HFSS, EMPro, Altium Designer, WaspNET, or similar design and simulation software
  • Experience with mechanical integration tools such as SolidWorks is considered an asset
  • Exposure to Agile product development methodologies is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering and manufacturing environment
