Job Summary

The Department of Radiation Oncology is looking for a Radiation Therapist to administer doses of radiation as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist for the treatment of disease, utilizing ionizing radiation producing equipment. Operate in a safe and patient focused manner to provide high quality patient care. Work on a highly functional, large team at Michigan Medicine main campus with a requirement for flexibility within your team and dependent on clinic needs. Proficiency in delivering external beam radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients, as well as experience working on a CT simulator.

Responsibilities*
  • Assist in simulation procedures and preform patient treatment education and training for EBRT
  • Deliver EBRT treatments using Varian linear accelerators ranging in complexity from standard 3D treatments to SBRT and SRS
  • Help to maintain all equipment in a safe and satisfactory working order, reporting all replacement needs to the Chief or Assistant Therapist
  • Assist in variance tracking and the reporting of near misses and aid in the root cause analysis to introduce process improvement in an effort to avoid reoccurrence
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist with coverage where and when the team requires the help
  • Help to identify areas of operational inefficiency and participate in the implementation of department growth initiatives
  • Participate in the development of the clinical policies and procedures pertinent to the success of the department and safety of the patient
  • Serve as a resource to patients and other healthcare providers at Michigan Medicine
  • Provide support and assistance in RTT student teaching, including guiding students in clinical tasks, reinforcing course objectives and promoting a positive learning environment.

Required Qualifications*
  • Graduation from high school; graduation from an accredited program in Radiation Therapy Technology.
  • Registration or registry-eligible in radiation therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • This classification requires Primary Source Verification

Modes of Work

Work Schedule
