Labcorp is seeking a Radiation Safety & Scientific Specialist to join our Medical Affairs team in Indianapolis, IN!

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Job Responsibilities:

The Radiation Safety & Scientific Communications Specialist is a multidisciplinary role responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant use of radioactive materials while also translating complex scientific information into clear, impactful communications for diverse stakeholders. This position plays a critical role in regulatory compliance, radiation protection, scientific training, and strategic communication. The specialist acts as a liaison between technical teams, leadership, regulatory authorities, and clients, and vendors - ensuring both operational safety and scientific clarity.This position will serve as Radiation Safety Officer locally and as a technical resource supporting the global Central Laboratories network.

Scientific Communications & Strategy

• Develop and execute scientific communication strategies, which may include presentations, reports, white papers, marketing materials, and digital platforms.

• Translate complex scientific and technical concepts into clear, accurate, and engaging content for diverse audiences.

Scientific Training & Knowledge Transfer

• Design and deliver scientific training programs for internal teams (e.g., project managers, marketing, business development).

• Enhance organizational understanding of scientific concepts, technologies, and radiation safety practices.

• Promote a strong safety and scientific literacy culture across the organization.

Radiation Safety, Protection, & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all radiation protection regulations, authorization conditions, and applicable directives.

• Establish and maintain controlled and monitored areas to limit radiation exposure.

• Conduct periodic monitoring of ambient dose rates inside and outside controlled areas.

• Oversee shielding design and radiation protection measures for facility construction and modifications.

• Ensure radiation doses are maintained according to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.

• Maintain availability, functionality, and proper maintenance of radiation protection equipment.

• Perform annual reviews of protective systems and controls. Contamination Control & Monitoring

• Investigate radiation-related incidents and ensure thorough documentation and corrective actions.

• Manage end-to-end radioactive waste processes, including collection, labeling, storage, disposal, and release.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Health Physics, or related field).

  • 3 years or more of experience in radioactivity usage and safety

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific information into clear, impactful messaging.

  • Experience developing training materials and delivering scientific presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or equivalent.

  • Familiarity with Immunology / Autoimmune diseases and biomarkers

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Health Physics, or related field).

Pay Range: All job offers will bebased on a candidates skills and prior relevant experience, applicabledegrees/certifications,as well as internal equity and market data.

The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan.Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers.
