To be champions on execution of R&D Projects and operations, we are looking for enthusiastic and highly motived collaborators that become part of our R&D team in the Electrification Distribution Solution (ELDS) NAM business line.
As R&D Project Manager, you will provide leadership project management, supporting our highly successful project managers and upcoming project managers. Utilizing your strong engineering project management skills, you will lead cross-functional teams and will collaborate closely with product managers, sales application and test engineers, supply chain & manufacturing operations to design and deliver improved products that provide extreme value to our customers, and are commercially successful for ABB.
You will be mainly accountable for:- Develop and analyze project execution, KPI monitoring of project and ensure Consistent project execution across teams in Technology Center; prioritize projects based on strategic alignment, value, and resource capacity. Ensure that leadership has clear visibility to make informed investments decisions.
- Developing engineering mindset with a strong delivery, ensuring project plans, design, test & user documentation, product cost estimates, risk mitigation techniques, and operating procedures are fully implemented and effectively executed, including high quality reporting on projects status.
- Develop framework for R&D Project managers to work collaboratively with cross-functional departments and team members including Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain Management, Laboratory, Technical Services, Operations, and Quality Control
- Implement and maintain project management tools, train teams to use them consistently, and automate reporting, workflows, and documentation; execute and help TC Manager with operational excellence, supporting innovation project management, finance tools, and processes.

Qualifications for the role:- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master's degree preferred); 12-14 years of project management and engineering management experience in electrical power systems product development (10+ years with Master's degree)
- Direct experience in electrical/mechanical industry with demonstrated expertise in product development, research operations, or power utility environments
- Proven ability to manage projects to completion, deliver design models and development plans within budget, and meet project deadlines
- PMP or similar PM certification preferred; proficiency with waterfall project methodology and experience with Agile product development methodologies
- Experience managing project teams and leading product development initiatives within both industrial manufacturing and large-scale utility environments
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
- Valid work authorization to work for ABB in the United States required
